FRIDA IN CHAINS

FRIDA IN CHAINS

PriceFrom AU$35.00

Nowadays, considered a Mexican folk hero, Frida Kahlo has become an emblem of female determination and power, despite the multitude of challenges she faces throughout her lifetime. Many of her works explore several themes, from an interest in her ancestry and heritage to her struggles with childlessness and femininity. Her most well-known paintings, however, seem to revolve around two major events in her life: her traumatic divorce from fellow artist Diego Rivera, and a nearly fatal accident she survived as a teenager.

For me, she symbolizes a strong female survivor. This version of her "In Chains" symbolizes her ongoing journey to escape the suffering that imprisoned her.
